Mary Beth McKenzie

American painter, born 1946
BiographyBorn in Cleveland, Ohio in 1946, Mary Beth McKenzie was educated at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, the Arts Students League in New York, and the National Academy of Design in New York, to which she was elected in 1994. Her monotypes and paintings are evocative portraits of human experience. A solo exhibition of her work was presented at the Erie Art Museum in 2018, and her paintings and prints can be found in the collections of the Delaware Art Museum, Butler Institute of American Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, among others. In addition, McKenzie is a dedicated teacher, offering workshops, teaching at the Art Students League, and publishing on her working methods.
