Robert Tait McKenzieCanadian physician, sculptor, and medalist, 1867–1938

Born in Ontario, Canada, McKenzie attended McGill University in Montreal for medical school and taught there in the 1890s. In 1904 he moved to the United States to teach at University of Pennsylvania. A pioneer of physical fitness programs and rehabilitation programs for injured soldiers, McKenzie had been an athlete at McGill. McKenzie's interest in sculpture grew from his knowledge of anatomy, and his most famous sculptures are images of athletes.
