Label TextSamuel Bancroft developed a relationship through correspondence with Winifred Sandys, one of ten children of the pre-Raphaelite painter Frederick Sandys and his common-law wife Mary Emma Jones. Bancroft purchased a number of works by both Winifred and her father including this photograph of a chalk drawing by Frederick which Winifred hand colored.
