Label TextThis image illustrated a poem of the same title in which a young Christian martyr living in the time of Nero successfully defeats a powerful opponent. Because the Christian refuses to relinquish his faith, Emperor Nero orders the lions to be released into the arena. The Christian is killed but goes to paradise.
