Label TextBarbara Schwinn Jordan studied art and design in the United States and Europe and worked as both illustrator and portraitist. She recalled that she probably submitted this unpublished illustration to Cosmopolitan.Throughout World War II on both sides of the Atlantic, women's hats with elaborate feathers and artificial flowers brightened the ordinary fashions brought about by rationing, especially as hat materials were among the few items not rationed.
