Label TextA best-seller of 1902, Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch is a humorous tale of a poverty-stricken Kentucky family. The hope-over-despair chronicle was made into movies, stage productions, radio shows, and merchandise such as dolls. Here the ever-optimistic Mrs. Wiggs encourages one of her children. Advertisements for the book, which sold for one dollar, noted that it contained "18 full-page pictures by Florence Scovel Shinn."
