Label TextFor his 1942 edition of The Night Before Christmas, Everett Shinn employed a style reminiscent of children's illustrated literature of the turn of the 20th century. Shinn began his career as an illustrator for the Philadelphia Press newspaper in 1893 while he studied painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He returned to illustration frequently during his career as a painter, muralist, designer for New York stage productions, and art director for Hollywood movies.
