Label TextCornelia Greenough worked as a book illustrator and magazine cover artist in the early 1900s. This work may be a costume study from her student days in Howard Pyle's class. Greenough noted in a letter that Pyle emphasized the costumed model, which would be of more use to working illustrators than the study of the nude. He expected his students to have already mastered drawing the nude figure.
