Label TextGrace McFarren attended Moore College of Art and studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art before settling in Wilmington in 1960. Soon after arriving, the artist founded the Wilmington Circulating Gallery of Paintings, a rental gallery she operated for 25 years in the Wanamaker’s store on Augustine Road. In addition to displaying her own work, McFarren showed mostly abstraction, including paintings by University of Delaware professor Dan Teis. This collage, Marina, was the artist’s entrance piece for the American Watercolor Society in 1972 and was included in the Delaware Art Museum’s 58th Annual Delaware Exhibition that same year.
