Label TextEllen du Pont Wheelwright was an artist and art collector. She was an important figure in the Wilmington art world. In 1951, she purchased the Howard Pyle Studios on Franklin Street in order to preserve them and avoid their being turned into apartments. This would become the home of The Studio Group, a Delaware arts institution.
