Label TextBest known for his stylish illustrations and Art Deco murals, Aaron Douglas was at the heart of the Harlem Renaissance. Douglas painted two murals for the Goens family in Delaware. This is the study for the second mural, which surrounded the fireplace in their Hockessin home. Dr. and Mrs. Goens were pillars of Wilmington's African American community and relatives of the prominent artist.
