Malcolm Osborne

English printmaker, 1880–1963
BiographyMalcolm Osborne trained under Frank Short at the Royal College of Art (f1901-6), publishing his first etching in 1904. During WW1 he served in the Artists’ Rifles and the 60th Division in France, Salonika and Palestine. In 1918 he was elected Associate Engraver of the Royal Academy. In 1924 he succeeded Short as the head of the etching and engraving school at the Royal College of Art. He was elected a full member of the RA in 1926. He was President of the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers and Engravers from 1938-1962. He died in September, 1963 in Kensington, London
