American painter and printmaker, 1894–1981
BiographyBorn in New York City, Tait studied at the National Academy of Design as a teen, and a life class there with Leon Kroll particularly influenced her approach. She traveled to Paris and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, where she learned lithography. By the early 1930s, she was back in New York, producing prints and painting murals for the Public Works of Art Project. In 1941 she and her husband moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
