BiographyBorn in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, Henryette Stadelman grew up in New Castle, Delaware. She studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and in Italy. She exhibited her paintings in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. Married to architect G. Morris Whiteside, II, she was the founder of the Wilmington Academy of Art in 1928, which offered a spectrum of professional art instruction until it became the education department of the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts, now the Delaware Art Museum.
