BiographyLucile Murphy was born in Savannah, Georgia. Her earliest studies were at that city's Telfair Academy; she then studied in Paris. While Murphy became a recognized watercolorist, she also illustrated calendars and other popular products. Among her stock characters was the flapper, the up-to-date, stylish young woman of the 1920s.
