American illustrator, 1856–1936
BiographyHenry Ogden was born in Philalphia but moved with his family to Brooklyn, New York at a young age. He was trained at the Brooklyn Institute and the Brooklyn Acedemy of Design. At the age of 17 Ogden began working for the Illustrated Newspaper and through this position travelled around the country, resulting in a series of illustrations of the American West. Ogden became intersted in illustrating historical scenes, particularly of the Revolutionary War. He eventually created an illustrated record of historical Army uniforms.
