American illustrator, 1849–1925
BiographyRufus Fairchild Zogbaum was an illustrator and jounalist. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina and was educated at the Art Student's League in New York from 1878-1879. Between 1880-1882 he studied in Paris with Leon Bonnat.

Zogbaum was well known for his illustrations, paintings, and murals of military subjects, specifically the Army and Navy, horses and westerns, and the Civil and Spanish-American Wars. In 1897 he published a book titled All Hands: Pictures of Life in the United States Navy. His illustrations frequently appeared in Harper's Weekly.
