Xavier Gonzalez

American painter and sculptor, 1898–1993, born in Spain
BiographyBorn in Almeria, Spain, Gonzalez lived in Argentina and Mexico before settling in the United States in 1925. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the San Carlos Academy in Mexico City. He painted murals and modern easel paintings and produced delicate metal sculptures. He taught at Tulane University, the Brooklyn Museum, the Art Students League of New York, and the Summer School of Art, in Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
