American artist, 1934–2017

BiographyA pioneer of color photography, Turner began his career when color photography was a new and almost exclusively commercial medium. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he embraced color for fine art, as well as journalism and advertising projects. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, Turner mastered a variety of color technologies. His work has appeared in National Geographic, Life, and Look magazines, and his photographs are in the collections of major museums.
