BiographyJohn Henry Witt was raised in Indiana and trained in Cincinnati, Ohio. He settled in Columbus and built a career as a portrait painter, before moving to New York around 1878. He was a regular exhibitor at the National Academy of Design from 1877 until his death in 1901 and was elected ANA.
