Label TextIn this postcard, Shinn informed Sloan that he had gone to Käsebier's studio for his portrait session prior to the exhibition of the Eight at Macbeth Gallery:

Dear Sloan,
Was up to be photographed today. Great fun, being an artist, with temperament. They are very good of all the boys.
Everett Shinn

Although Shinn is seated in the Museum's photograph, an alternate version, which appeared in The Craftsman, showed him standing, as he pictured himself here. In both versions he looks away from the camera and smokes a cigarette, displaying his artistic temperament.
