Label TextSmolin was one of Sloan's private students. Sloan considered this a particularly effective use of his linear glazing technique and exhibited the panel four times in his lifetime. Smolin sculpted a portrait of Sloan, which he exhibited at the Society of Independent Artists in 1940.
