Label TextThe model for this portrait is Gitel Kahn, a pupil at the Art Students League and a frequent model for Sloan in the early 1930s. It appears that she is modeling a portrait head of Sloan, but no such work is known; the painting shares this motif to Sloan's 1930 panel Vagis, The Sculptor .
