Label TextIt has been noted that sometimes a name appears in Wyeth's titles, but the person named is absent, creating a sort of metaphorical portrait. Here Wyeth summons up the presence of his friend and neighbor Adam Johnson while musing about the land and its history: I paint these hills here not because they're better than other hills. It's that I was born here. And I can do an awful lot of thinking and dreaming about the past and future - the timelessness of these rocks and these hills - about all the people who have existed here.
