Label TextThis sketch is one of many for the artist's tempera painting Raccoon (1958; Brandywine River Museum). Wyeth discovered Jack while sketching at Brinton's Mill, the property which later became his home. He tried unsuccessfully to buy the almost blind dog from its abusive owner.
