Label TextBetween 1965 and 1967, Spruance produced a series of 26 lithographs inspired by Herman Melville's Moby Dick for an offset publication, Moby Dick: The Passion of Ahab, with text by Lawrance Thompson. Spruance printed alternate versions of the prints before the edition was run. Although planned in color, some prints were issued in greys only as the artist died before the project was completed.
