Label TextHenry Eugene Elderman was the editorial cartoonist for the Washington Post in the 1930s, a position he left to serve in World War II. He worked as a cartoonist for the Office of War Information's Victory magazine. After the war, he lived in New York until his death in 1963.

This cartoon must have appeared during the run-up to the 1936 Presidential contest between Democrat Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Alf Landon. The candidates' competing supporters are trying to gain the vote of farmers.
