Label TextThis poster advertises La Place Clichy, a large Parisian commericial center, noting the availability of "Oriental imports," a description encompassing goods from various Asian countries. Eugene Grasset was a leader of the Art Nouveau movement. The style was quickly adapted to the commericial art of posters. Grasset was the French pioneer of a European trend - led by William Morris in England toward the unification of art and industry.
