Label TextGaiety Girls were the chorus girls in the musical comedies of the 1890s produced by George Edwardes at the Gaiety Theatre, London. This genre of musical theatre depended, in part, on the beautiful female dancing corps, who appeared in bathing attire and in the latest fashions. The Gaiety Girls were hailed as respectable, elegant young women; many achieved celebrity status in their own right.
