Label TextGeorge Ralston commissioned four portrait from Bass Otis in 1823. Portraits of his wife's parents, Calvin and Priscilla Smith, and portraits of himself and his wife Louisa with their young child seated on her lap. Befitting a young couple in cosmopolitan Philadelphia, the Ralstons' portraits were quite stylish, featuring neoclassical architectural elements in the background.
