Label TextThis sketch appears to depict a soldier suffering from a mustard gas attack during World War I. His double-breasted jacket may indicate that this is meant to be a French soldier.Yohn illustrated a mustard gas attack in a complex composition for Scribner's titled "The Spirit that Wins." The illustration is captioned: "The gunners of an American battery, though reduced to two wounded men, keep the gun in action through a gas attack until reserves arrive." This drawing doesn't appear directly related to that picture, but seems to depict a similar subject.
