Label TextThe Abundance of Egypt was designed as a companion piece to the etching The Desolation of Egypt, submitted to the London-based Etching Club to be included in their annual ‘portfolio’ publication of members’ work in 1857. Both prints were inspired by the artist’s extended stay in the Holy Land, beginning in 1854.
