Label TextWhile probably not created on the spot, this image does record a moment from the artist’s first trip to the Middle East in 1854, when he was for a time settled at Gizeh. The evening scene depicted is that of Holman Hunt’s encampment at the site of the great pyramids. The outline of the artist’s seated form can be seen in the tent light.
