Label TextNoting the success of poster campaigns by national magazines, some newspapers also printed posters. New York’s Morning Journal hired Louis John Rhead to execute a series of posters in 1895-96. Rhead worked in an Art Nouveau style that emphasized flat color and pattern. This stylish poster—which was considered worthy of reproduction in Les Maitres de l’Affiche—complemented the publication’s claim to be “a modern journal.”
