Label TextIn 1860 Louis Prang founded L. Prang and Company to produce lithographs. At first the company specialized in advertising, commercial posters, and business materials; Prang then branched out to include album cards depicting landscapes and various examples of Americana. After a visit to Europe to master the most up-to-date German lithographic techniques, Prang began to reproduce works of art, thereby disseminating images of fine art to a wide public who lacked access to original works of art.
