Label TextThe support (the surface on which the artist draws) can often add interest to the overall work of art. Jill Baroff used two types of paper for this drawing. Gampi paper is traditionally made from the gampi bush that grows in mountainous areas of Japan. Kozo paper is made from the bark of the kozo plant, also known as paper mulberry, which is native to Asia. Both have been used for centuries in papermaking; layered together in this composition, they emphasize each other’s celebrated strength and delicate appearance.
