Label TextThis drawing is a bit of a mystery. An inscription on the paper refers to an unrelated illustration published in The Youth's Companion in 1913, but the composition of this sketch was used for a painting by Becher dated 1954. No published version has been identified, but it may have illustrated a text for religious education.
