Label TextUntitled #4 is related to a series of similar work Martin Johnson has been making since the mid-1980s. Johnson's paintings combine Conceptual art's concern for linguistics with the strong visual imagery and color associated with graffiti art of the late 1970s and 1980s. The punched black band at the top of the paper signifies the regularized passage of time.
