Label TextAt the recommendation of artist Sol Lewitt, collectors Dorothy and Herbert Vogel first saw Robert Barry's work in the "January Show" organized by Seth Siegelaub in 1969. Focusing on information and the communication of ideas, this exhibition introduced artists and practices that would become associated with Conceptual art. Barry uses words as evocative, visual invitations to contemplation. The words are presented without overt context or intention, relying solely on the viewer's personal interpretation.
