Label TextWyeth writes of the unexpected beauty brought by a sudden warm spell on this February morning, after a "real Chadds Ford winter." He comments on his deep-rooted love for the countryside around his home:

It is very odd but I find myself going back to the same places I have walked all my life and getting more and more excited.

Here Wyeth depicts a chestnut stump he saw as he ascends a hill and turns toward the right on his daily walk. He writes in his letter of the unexpected beauty brought by a sudden warm spell on this February morning, after a "real Chadds Ford winter."
