Edward Loper Jr.

American artist, 1934–2023
BiographyWilmington, Delaware native Edward Loper, Jr. studied at the Barnes Foundation in the late 1970s and taught at Wilmington High School and at Christina Cultural Arts Center as the head of the Visual Arts Department. Since the late 1960s, his vibrant figurative paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions throughout the greater Mid-Atlantic region. Loper, Jr.'s work is in numerous corporate collections and in the holdings of the Brandywine River Museum of Art and Christina Cultural Arts Center, among others. In 2019, his paintings were featured in a survey exhibition, The Loper Tradition: Paintings by Edward Loper, Sr. and Edward Loper, Sr., at the Delaware Art Museum.
