Virginia S. WaltersAmerican artist, 1925-1998
Virginia S. Walters was known as a painter and ceramicist. She was inspired to become an artist while working for the Army during the second World War, where she painted Normandy landscapes to help the American soldiers prepare for D-Day. She studied at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts), the Haystack Mountain Craft School, the University of Delaware, and was a student of Edward Loper, Sr. A member for the American Crafts Council and the Council of Delaware Artists, she also taught ceramics at the Tower Hill School and participated in the annual Delaware Shows at the Delaware Art Museum from 1960-1964.
