American artist, 1894–1982
BiographyLewis was born in Oakland, California, and studied at the California School of Fine Art where she was deeply influenced by Gottardo Piazzoni. She briefly resided in New York City where she studied with Hans Hofmann. She returned to California by 1920 and worked for Foster & Kleiser Company. Her work is in many West Coast collections.
