Marcus Aurelius Renzetti

American sculptor, 1897–1975
BiographyA sculptor based in Arden, Delaware, Renzetti taught sculpture at the Wilmington Academy of Art. Born in Italy, his family moved to Philadelphia when he was a boy. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, won a Cresson scholarship to study abroad, and later became an associate professor at the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts). He later received an honorary degree for his teaching work, inspiring artists such as Charles Cropper Parks, and also taught at the Brandywine YWCA after his retirement. After being injured when a chip of marble blinded him in one eye, Renzetti began working in photography and design.
