Joseph Pollet

American painter, 1897–1979
BiographyBorn in Germany, Pollet relocated to the United States with his family in 1911, settling in New York City, where he attended the Art Students League. While he studied painting, he worked as an advertising copywriter. Pollet exhibited with the Society of Independent Artists and at the Downtown Gallery. He moved to Woodstock, New York, and later to Europe. Back in the United States in 1971, much of his work was destroyed in a fire in his Greenwich Village studio.
