Norman JacobsenAmerican artist, 1885–1944

Born in Wyoming, in the 1910s Jacobsen settled in Greenwich Village, where he worked as an artist and illustrator. He produced cartoons for The Masses and the New York Tribune and designed sets for the Provincetown Players. He remained in New York, writing and illustrating until 1920, when he left the United States to travel through Europe, Asia, and Africa. He traveled for nearly two decades before settling in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he taught.
