BiographyPhiladelphia painter Robert Street was born in Germantown. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts regularly between 1815 and 1861. Primarily a portrait painter, he also exhibited historical subjects and landscapes. His 1824 portrait of Andrew Jackson was displayed at the White House. In 1840 over 200 paintings by Street were exhibited at the Artists' Fund Hall in Philadelphia, ensuring his continued success and reputation.
