Label TextA notation indicates that the model for this may be Yolande Bugbee, and the face of this girl certainly resembles Sloan's portraits of her, like the Museum's Iolanthe. Sloan painted Bugbee several times in 1909 and 1910 and again in 1946 and 1948, when she got back in touch with him to buy one of the early portraits. However, Sloan never painted her with her hair down, and the date inscribed on the drawing (1916) does not make sense with this identification.
