Label TextIn 1892, the 21-year-old John Sloan introduced himself as a multifaceted illustrator, capable of designing, etching, and lettering, as well as producing advertising sketches. It was a momentous year for the young artist: he rented his own studio (with friend and fellow illustrator Joe Laub); accepted a job on the staff of the Philadelphia Inquirer; enrolled in classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; and met his mentor Robert Henri.
