Label TextMarcus Waterman was primarily a landscape painter. A native of Rhode Island, he studied for a year at the National Academy of Design, where he also exhibited regularly. He traveled widely and became especially known for his depictions of North Africa, especially Algeria, where he said that he "for the first time...felt at home."
